Hello! Today’s schedule was more relaxed than the previous days, since our performance is over. Friendship concert today had a pyjamas theme, everyone dressed up creatively in their night wear. The concert started off with Junyuan Primary School followed by Peirce Secondary and Victoria JC. There was a costume competition where all schools participated in. However, we weren’t interested in participating. There were several reasons for it.
· For some of us, this pyjamas party was probably our first ever pyjamas party. So, we didn’t have much idea on how to dress up.
· Our choir is still in the process of strengthening our bonds. Thus, we had some problems volunteering people up on stage.
· Our choir lacks the courage to self-volunteer or to appear on stage.
· Our choir lacks confidence and has low self-esteem.
There are several ways to improve on the above:
· Now we have the experience from this pyjamas party and we can use this experience and dress up better for the next party! Maybe by constantly involve ourselves in themed performance.
· Choir outings, camps etc.
· Give more opportunities to speak up in front of a large audience, provide chances to lead the choir. Confidence training sessions (e.g. Flying fox, abseiling, rock climbing).
· Low self-esteem can be solved by gaining more exposure and experience. Experiences can be gained by watching Youtube videos of other school choirs, requesting teachers to organize more inter-choir activities. Interactions will allow the choir to understand the spirit of choral singing.
Tomorrow is our last day in Genting. :X
