Group 4 day 2 reflection

Day 2 – BLOGGING TIME!

MASTER CLASS. (:

We had our first master class conducted by Mr Priatna. We learnt quite a number of singing techniques from him. He taught us that different types of mouth shapes can produce different types of sound. For example, we should shape our mouth into an “O” shape to produce a rounder sound. We applied the vocal techniques to improve in our singing for the two songs “We can make a difference” and “Paruparong Bukid”. Though our legs were tired after standing throughout the whole practice, we felt that it was worth while.

After our lunch, we went for our second master class conducted by Mr Carpio. We did some warm up like listening to each other so that we will not go out of tune. For example, the Alto singers will sing the lower note while the soprano 1 and 2 singers will sing the higher note. He also taught us how to pronounce the lyrics of the “Paruparong Bukid” in tagalong language. “Git” is pronounced as “GI-T” He also said that when we sing “Sang, Dang”, we have to pronounce the “ang” clearly. We should emphasize on the letter R and N. This allows us to sing the song so that we sound more like the locals in Philippines.

Friendship Concert(Christmas Theme)(:

At around 6.45pm, we gathered outside hall 5 for the performance. We were dressed up by wearing Christmas hat and our lime green choir t-shirt to match the Christmas theme. After Chua Chu Kang and Junyuan primary sang their songs, it was our turn to go on stage. We felt very nervous and excited. This is because it was our first time to perform outside Singapore. The sight of the large audience added pressure for us to do well. After our third song, we felt relieved that it was finally over. We thought we did quite well and the teachers praised us for a job well done. We went for supper after the performance. Mr Lim treated us KFC. It was mouth-watering and delicious!!

After watching other schools’ performances, we learnt that suitable movements and good facial expressions can add life to the singing. We heaved a sigh of relief when we go down the stage and were impressed by their confidence on stage. We should learn to be like them by being courageous and dare to sing out loud without worrying about the remarks from others. The more we do it, the more confident we will become.

Conclusion:
Today has been a fulfilling day as we have learnt quite a number of new vocal techniques. We look forward to the following day.
