GROUP 1 (Day 2)

Dear Diary,

Wooooooooo (*Howl Away*) This is one of the sounds that we always do during our warm-up exercise with our beloved conductor Mr. Lim & pianist Mr. Ronald who always plays beautifully. Mr. Ronald is extremely talented. When he was in Primary 5, he was already the pianist for his school. He is also a Math genius who can calculate stuff at lightning speed mentally.
We had our first Master Class with Mr. Avip Priatna who hails from Indonesia. He sings magnificently. He can hit high notes for a man and his voice was so rich. We all listened very attentively during his lesson. He was humorous and joked around with us to help us relax. We were all feeling very nervous to be in the presence of a WORLD FAMOUS Choir Conductor. He helped us to be more conscious of our mouth shapes when singing as this affects the quality of our voices and the pronunciation of our words. When he made us “throw our voices out”, our volume was much louder which makes us sound much more confident and stronger. Whenever we receive praises from Mr. Priatna, we felt very proud of ourselves & all us floated on cloud nine.

We had another Master Class with another WORLD FAMOUS CLINICIAN who is from the Philippines. His name is Mr. Mark Anthony Carpio. He can sing all the different voice pitches from high to low. His voice just sounds so pure and angelic. We all fly to heaven each time he sings. As we were singing a Filipino Traditional Folk Song called “Paruparong Bukid”, we were very afraid that we would sing it wrongly. However, he felt that we sang pretty well except for some mispronunciations here & there.

Finally, it was performance time for the "Friendship Concert" and we were all decked in our Choir Tee & Santa Hats. Our teachers were all wearing reindeer antlers. They looked cute & funny. We were the third choir to perform and we ABSOLUTELY NERVOUS. Slowly, we gained more confidence and sang our 3 songs. We think we sang “Paruparong Bukid” the best as we had the most practice for this song. As the saying goes…“Practice Makes Perfect!”

That’s all for now folks! Good night & Sweet Dreams!
P.S: To all our choristers, always believe in yourself! :)

Love Loads,
Pei Ting, Tabitha, Rachel Lee & Rachel Yeo,
Hui Yu, Syazwani & Ms. Carmelia
