Group 2's Learning Journey: Day 2

Our Master Class with Mr Avip Priatna

Some of us woke up tired today because we didn’t sleep well the night before. We were just not accustomed to sleeping in a new environment. After breakfast, we rested for a while, then practised our songs with our conductor, Mr Lim. After that we went for our first clinic, by Mr Avip Priatna.

He taught us how to produce rounded vowels in order to produce a more rounded sound. This will make the vocal quality richer. He also advised us to us our diaphragms in order to sing with more power when singing the songs, “Reach” , “Paruparong Bukid” and “We Can Make A Difference”. He also told us that singing is about singing with the whole body. The coordination between the mouth, ears and the body posture is very important. After this master class, we went to the cafe to have our lunch.

Our Master Class with Mr Mark Anthony Carpio

After lunch, we went for our second clinic, by Mr Mark Anthony Carpio. He taught us how to check if we are in tune. He also told us the correct pronunciation for our Filipino song, "Paruparong Bukid". Then, he explained the meaning of the song. This helped us tremendously as we could visualise this in our minds as we sang the song once again.

The Friendship Concert

The theme of the concert was "Christmas", so we donned our Santa hats and hurried down excitedly. We sat in the audience and watched Chua Chu Kang Primary School and Junyuan Primary School perform. They sang very well.

When it was our turn to perform, all of us were very nervous. Nevertheless, we did a great job in the end. After the concert, Mr Lim rewarded us with a supper treat at the KFC. He ordered a lot of food. At first, we thought there was too much food, but we finished everything in the end. After that we went back to the hotel to sleep. We really enjoyed today.
